The Extended Play album features three cover songs that the duo has altered and recorded in their own vision. The album was recorded using the user-friendly Apple Garageband program, with the intent to push the program to see what could be created through it.
Pre-Orders are available starting on December 5th, 2014. A limited edition first print off 500 copies have been pressed, however, the E.P. will be available in the digital format by December 23rd, 2014.
The original intent for a debut recording was for the band to write 15 or so new songs, and release a full length studio album in 2015. However, upon stumbling across a few older recordings that the duo had made a few years earlier, the plan was set to remix the tunes and get an E.P. out before 2014 ends. The three songs on this E.P. were originally recorded as annual gifts to a friend of both Phil and Elizabeth. “I sat down in my studio room one day and revisited what we had recorded for our friend, Karen”, Phil says, “I thought that if the tracks were opened back up and remixed and a few things re-recorded, it could make a pretty fun product to release to the public”.
John Lennon’s Imagine is the first single from the E.P. “I believe this song has some of the most perfect lyrics… it is simply timeless” says Elizabeth Coyle Kominski. While the familiar piano lines are present throughout the track, unfamiliar guitar lines, harmonies and drum loops haunt The Bubba’s rendition of this classic. “Imagine there’s no countries… it isn’t hard to do. Nothing to kill or die for… and no religion, too. Imagine all the people living life in peace” quotes Phil Kominski, “That sums it all up for me”.Also included on the E.P. are Jackson Browne’s Running On Empty and What A Wonderful World, made famous by Louis Armstrong but written by Bob Thiele and George Weiss. The latter of the two tracks features a bit of a psychedelic vibe and a guest appearance by the duo’s son, Tyler Kominski.
